Programme

There was a fine mixture of youth and experience in the Reserve team's final pre-season fixture. Warren Feeney and Harpal Singh both caught the eye with good displays and Jamie McMaster was another youngster to shine. While David Robinson, Alan Maybury, Mark Jackson and Paul Shepherd of the more senior players gave good support.Warren Feeney opened the scoring after just six minutes when he fired the ball into the net after Craig Farrell had helped on Harpal Singh's cross. Unitedwere well on top in the first half and the Selby keeper made good saves to deny Paul Shepherd and Craig Farrell. Bryan McCrystal replaced Kevin Evans in the sixty-third minute and two minutes later David Robertson scored with a shot from just outside the penalty box, which the keeper should have saved. ten minutes later Tony Lennon replaced Craig Farrell and in the next minute Tommy Knarvik replaced Jamie McMaster and in the same minute Leeds broke quickly from their own half and outpaced the Selby defence so thatthree Leeds attackers confronted the lone Selby defender. Warren Feeney chose to go alone and kept the ball in his possession before beating the keeper for a fine individual goal. Rhodes scored a consolation goal for Selby in the final minute. Graham Powell, Brian Lagan and Frazer Richardson remained unused on the Leeds bench.
